"Oh my god, I won?"

Piper was hanging out in the kitchen with Lindsey. She'd been cooking something, another experimental recipe, when she took a break for a moment to take part in a radio contest. It was on a whim, and she didn't think she'd actually win. She never won things. Not like this. In this case, it was tickets to a Kings game.

One thing about Piper and Lindsey? They didn't exactly have a lot in common, yet they just worked out. They'd been together for nearly ten years (!) now, despite not having a lot in common. But this was one thing they did share an interest in. They'd become fans of the team since they'd been living in LA. She liked to refer to it as "their thing." The thing they both found together. it was actually kind of sweet.

It looked very much like they'd be going to another game in the near future. Winning anything in general was exciting, though.

Piper was pretty busy these days. Ever since she'd been promoted as one of the main chefs at the restaurant she worked at, she didn't have as much free time. Today was a rare night off, and she was using the time wisely to relax.

Currently, she was sitting outside on the apartment balcony, taking in the view. It wasn't much of one. Just more apartment buildings. Still, it was kind of nice out here. She took out her phone and started flipping through some of her pictures, smiling at the pictures of her two grandkids. The newest one, Matthew, was born just last week. He was one of Chris and Summer's that showed up all those years ago, and he was adorable and amazing like his cousin Victoria. It was strange that she was sort of a grandmother before she even had kids of her own.

That led her to think about the teenage girl she met a few years ago and whether she was in her future or not. She wondered if Lindsey thought about her, too. Maybe they should talk about that. Someday.

[Piper lives! Thought I'd dust this thing off. Also, open if anyone wants to talk to her for whatever reason.]
cookinggeek: (Oh really?)
Piper knew what day it was. She wondered if that had anything to do with the news she learned today. She was going to be a grandmother again, before she had any kids of her own. This time, it was Chris and Summer's news. One of those kids who showed up every once in awhile was finally going to exist in this time.

Yes, she knew, technically, Chris and Wyatt weren't hers, but she claimed them as such. So any of their kids were her grandchildren. The universe did not care that she was only 26.

Oh, and this was not an April Fool's joke. It had more to do with Fandom having a sense of humor. As usual.

She wondered if anyone else in her family had news to share. She was ready for whatever.

Piper was glad to have a job that mostly didn't require her to work on weekends. This just happened to be one of those lucky weekends off. Today was her birthday. She didn't want to spend it at the restaurant preparing birthday dinners for other people. Really.

Her tradition hadn't changed, either. She'd gone to a local bakery and got herself a single birthday cupcake. Just because she wasn't in the same dimension didn't mean that had to change. Besides, she was very happy with her life right now as well as her current living situation.

She wouldn't change that for all the cupcakes in the world.

Piper did something she often did after a long day at work. She settled at her laptop to surf the internet. Actually, it was an excuse to find even more ways to spoil Victoria.

Tonight's finds were adorable baby Halloween costumes. She refrained from sending those links to Isabel and Wyatt. She really didn't want to be one of those grandmothers. She wanted to be the cool one, not the meddling kind. Let the older version of her be the meddler...

Somehow, this lead to her discovering a true horror, one she wished she could vanquish.

"Are you kidding me?"

Apparently, some tv network was going to reboot Enchanted. Hollywood was truly running out of ideas.

"Hasn't that only been off the air for two years?"

The mind. It boggled.

[a post that needed to happen, yes; open, too]

Piper was finally getting around to something she'd put off for a few weeks. She was finally moving the rest of her stuff into Lindsey's apartment. Or was it theirs? After all, they were married now, and had been for just a few weeks. It had been a small ceremony at Halliwell Manor with just a few friends and family. Only the cake was super elaborate, and that was because Piper was serious about important baked goods.

Things were good right now. Perfect, really.
cookinggeek: (Cuteness)
Piper was 25 today. Wasn't it just yesterday she was a senior at Fandom High and turning 18? Though that was actually a birthday she'd still like to forget.

Now she was older and wiser. At least she was wise enough to know it was okay to take a break from a busy work schedule and demon slaying to indulge in a gourmet cupcake, her birthday tradition. It certainly was less stressful than wedding cakes at the moment. Yeah, she was taking a break from that, too.

If there was any day to be stress free, this was it.

cookinggeek: (Oh really?)
Piper was very pleased with the tiny Christmas tree in her room. Sure, it was a bit late to be decorating a tree, but she finally had a chance to after over time at the restaurant, dealing with some lower level demons, holiday baking, and the decorating she did around the hotel. Besides, the tree wasn't as messy as a poinsettia after being attacked by Kit. Silly cat.

Maybe she'd even put a few presents under it.

cookinggeek: (pumpkin)
Piper was preparing for Halloween by carving a pumpkin. She enjoyed the decorating aspect of it all, though no one would find witch decorations around here. She wasn't a big fan of the negative stereotypes of witches this holiday often embellished.

She also had plans to prepare the candy, though maybe that could wait. She didn't want anyone around here to steal any of it. It was for the kids...if any of them would wander by the big, partially occupied hotel Wednesday evening.

She took this very seriously.

[open for whatever; really, I just wanted an excuse to use this icon.]

Piper coped with trauma the best way she knew how: by baking. She spent the last few hours in the kitchen baking cookies and brownies. Though her experience in that hellish world was not as awful as some others, she still had some memories from there. She baked so she didn't have to think about how depressing it was, or the strange guilt she felt because the other her wasn't able to get her family and everyone else out of the prison right away.

At least the residents of the hotel would benefit from her trauma.

[seemed like a good excuse for a baking post; for residents, visits, phone calls, or the need for baked goods!]
cookinggeek: (Hmmm)
Piper was not in the best mood today. She wondered if there was a Leap Day curse that turned customers into nitpicky jackasses. In her line of work (the other witchy one), that might actually be possible. She'd have to look into it.

No one was as bad as her annoying, awful boss, though. He was so condescending and bossy and...faux French! Ugh! When he turned to leave the kitchen after another tantrum, the death glares from her and her co-workers were like daggers.

She had to wonder if vanquishing him would be wrong. Wouldn't society be better for it? Not that she ever would do anything like that, no matter how tempting it was.

[can be open for calls or texts or whatever; I blame this post on Horrible Bosses, which I watched recently]
cookinggeek: (Content)
Today was yet another birthday for Piper. She spent it the best way she could by stopping at a fancy bakery for a red velvet cupcake. This was becoming a bit of a tradition for her now. It was the most celebratory she could get when she had to work the next day.

Later in the evening, when she was more relaxed, she lit a candle on the cupcake and made a wish moments later. It wasn't much of one. She just wanted this to be a good year, expected Fandom weirdness and all.

[can be open for visits or calls or whatever]
cookinggeek: (WTF?)
When Piper reappeared, she was still on the floor. The server she had just bumped into was about to drop a bunch of glass wear she'd been carrying. Just a few moments ago, or so it seemed to her, that same server had been engulfed in black clouds of nothing. It didn't take her long to realize what was happening. Somehow, everything had been corrected.

The sound of the shattering glass was welcome, though Piper quickly made sure to apologize for causing the whole thing in the first place. She even helped clean up the glass.

"I have to go," she announced once that was done. "Family emergency!"

With that, she ran back to the hotel as fast as she could, at the same time texting pretty much everyone she knew: At the hotel. Safe.

As soon as she arrived at the lobby, she was greeted by a cat who had anxiously been waiting for her. She smiled at Kit before lifting her up. "Hi, were you lost, too?"

She knew there were calls that needed to be made. There were voices she needed to hear.

[open for anyone who wants to get in touch with her!]
cookinggeek: (Worried)
Piper wasn't sure why she came into work today. No, she knew exactly why. Distraction. That's what it was. Wyatt had kept her informed about the latest distressing situation. People were missing. More importantly, Chris was missing. He technically wasn't her son, but she loved him as such anyway. So she spent practically the entire weekend consulting the Book of Shadows, searching the pages individually at least three times. It didn't matter, though. The searches provided no answers.

Maybe she should have stayed home... )

[NFB, NFI, ooc okay]
cookinggeek: (Pensive)
Piper's new job as a chef was not exactly going as planned. Because the restaurant owner was the most disorganized person on the planet, Piper offered to help with inventory and bills, since she had the business degree. It was supposed to be a one time thing, yet she ended up taking on these tasks over and over. Apparently she was the only one OCD enough to deal with it. Still, she was a chef, not an assistant! Maybe she should demand a raise. Already.

For now, she was going to enjoy a quiet night watching Food Network. Some might think she'd hate that network now that she worked in the food industry. They would be wrong. It was still her favorite.

[can be open]
cookinggeek: (Kitchen)
Piper was tired. She'd been to multiple restaurants seeking a job. There were many recipe auditions because of it. She was given many reasons for not being hired: too young, not enough experience, restaurant going in another direction. Whatever the reason, it left her feeling rejected.

She wasn't sure why she was trying again at another restaurant. She was certain there would be another rejection. Still, she wasn't one to give up easily.

Wherein cooking occurs...and bad French accents... )

[some dialogue taken from the pilot episode with a few tweaks; open for calls or whatever.]

Piper was starting to get tired of being a hostess at a restaurant when she knew she had the ability to be a real chef. So when she noticed some restaurants were currently hiring chefs, she knew there was an opportunity for her to do something about that. She even set up at least one job interview.

Of course, an interview alone was not going to get her hired. She needed the perfect audition recipe. That would explain why there were ingredients all over the kitchen, and none of them were for potions. Unfortunately, she was kind of a perfectionist, especially when cooking was involved. She was not happy with any of these creations. Oh well. At least, in this place, she was sure they would not go to waste.

Maybe she would give up on this and sell brownies from a food truck instead. They seemed popular in this city.

Today was Piper's birthday. She spent it the best way she possibly could. She stopped at a cupcake shop near the hotel and got herself a red velvet one. Then she bought a mix of cupcakes to take home with her.

They were all hers, but she was willing to share. Maybe.

Thanksgiving at the Hyperion was a tradition by now. Piper and Veronica made sure of it as they once again took over the kitchen. They were cooking enough food to feed a small army.

Various appetizers were available to enjoy (some including bacon) while awaiting dinner. It was just a few hours away.

Re: Thanksgiving

Hi everyone! It's that time again. Thanksgiving at the Hyperion. Once again, Veronica and I will be doing the cooking, so the food is guaranteed to be excellent. Feel free to hang out with us if you don't have any plans. If you want to stick around for a few days, that's fine, too. There's plenty of room. Hope to see you Thursday!

-Piper

[ooc: if you're friends with any of the Hyperion residents, you definitely received this email! post will go up Wednesday for extreme sp]
